ABSTRACTING THE LANDSCAPE - SAUSALITO
Cost: $800
This two day intermediate workshop is for anyone who wants to push their painting to a new level with dynamic color and composition. (must have some basic drawing and oil (or acrylic) painting experience) .

Class size will be limited to 5 people so that each participant will get 1-1 instruction.
Topics covered in class will include:
- finding inspiration
- sketching and color studies
- underpainting for impactful results
- expressive brush and palette knife techniques
- keeping color mixing fresh
- observing value, composition and color organization
- knowing when your painting is done
- Artists bring their own paints
DAY ONE
• Take photos on the docks of Sausalito (5 min walk from the studio)
• Practice cropping and hand coloring photos to produce sketch/ color study
• Create underpainting/ resolve painting
DAY TWO
• Use cropping to abstract landscape
• Use color and light to create dynamic painting
• Demo painting techniques with brush and palette knife
• Review composition and contrast / resolve paintings
